To locate the owner of the Real property on which a project is located, either for TDLR project registration or inspection request purposes, you may search the Central Appraisal District (CAD) record by county to locate the Property ID number. Searching the appraisal district property records by physical street address has been the most successful option for us. Another option is to search the property map provided by the county's Central Appraisal District. If you can't readily locate the property map, search Google for (e.g.) "(county name) Central Appraisal District property map".

The owner information required during project registration or when performing project updates, as well as on various forms, must match the owner information listed in the Central Appraisal District record.

During project registration or requesting project updates, you may be required to provide what is called a CAD document. This is simply the property details page with the CAD property account number, or Property ID, with the site address and property owner information.

The CAD number is the Property ID. Sometimes referred to as 'PID', or Property Identification number.

It must be the number for the real commercial property, not personal property. Personal property is equipment or assets located within a building or facility. There may be a separate CAD number to identify these assets and a valuation for tax purposes. Personal property may be identified as Business Personal Property (BPP, PP, or P). Do not use the CAD number assigned to business personal property or personal property.

You will see a print icon or prompt to print the document to PDF format at the top of the web page. Please do this and save this document locally to your computer. If there is no Print icon, simply press CTRL button and the P button on your computer keyboard to bring up the print dialog box.
